The Light of Knowledge

قال رسول الله ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ said:

"فضل العالم على العباد كفضل القمر على سائر الكواكب"

(رواه الترمذي وصححه الألباني)

“The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon over all the stars.”

قال رسول الله ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ said:

"وإن الملائكة لتضع أجنحتها لطالب العلم رضًا بما يصنع"

(رواه أبو داود وصححه الألباني)

“Indeed, the angels lower their wings in approval of the one who seeks knowledge.”

قال رسول الله ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ said:

"إن العلماء ورثة الأنبياء، وإن الأنبياء لم يورّثوا دينارًا ولا درهمًا، إنما ورّثوا العلم، فمن أخذه أخذ بحظ وافر

(رواه أبو داود والترمذي)

“Indeed, the scholars are the inheritors of the prophets. And the prophets did not leave behind dinar or dirham, but rather they left behind knowledge. So whoever takes it has taken a great share.”

قال رسول الله ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ said:

"من يرد الله به خيرًا يفقهه في الدين"

(متفق عليه)

“If Allah intends good for someone, He gives him understanding of the religion.”

‎قال علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (رضي الله عنه) said:

"العلم خيرٌ من المال، العلم يحرسك وأنت تحرس المال"

“Knowledge is better than wealth — knowledge guards you, while you guard wealth.”

‎قال ابن القيم رحمه الله Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said:

"‎العلم يرفع صاحبه ولو كان دنيّ النسب، والجهل يضع صاحبه ولو كان شريف النسب."

“Knowledge elevates its possessor even if he has low lineage, and ignorance lowers its possessor even if he has noble lineage.”
