يُعد “كتاب التوحيد” من أهم الكتب في باب العقيدة، حيث بيّن فيه الإمام محمد بن عبد الوهاب التوحيد الذي بعث الله به رسله، وخلق من أجله الخليقة، وهو توحيد العبادة، أو توحيد الألوهية. شرح المؤلف معنى لا إله إلا الله، وأوضح نواقض الإسلام، وأبواب الشرك الأصغر والأكبر، وبين ما يناقض التوحيد أو ينقصه من الأقوال والأفعال المنتشرة بين الناس.

امتاز الكتاب ببنائه على النصوص، حيث سرد الآيات والأحاديث ثم أتبعها بشرح مختصر، مما جعله واضحًا وعمليًا. ويُعد هذا الكتاب من أصول الدعوة السلفية في تقرير التوحيد والرد على الشركيات والبدع، ويُدرّس في أغلب حلقات العلم والمؤسسات التعليمية التي تتبنى منهج السلف الصالح.
